Archives for Ashankt category

Today I have reached 26. It’s not that important but let’s look back at that list I made at the start of the year and see how I’m getting on shall we?

1. The Insane

Got to Exalted with Steamwheedle – Leaving 3 factions left, Ravenholdt next methinks.

2. Mechano-Hog

Done :)

3. Try and post on topics you’ve created

Posting has been semi-active lately but we’ll see :)

4. Get those alts to 80!

Warrior is currently being levelled on a break from The Insane.

5. Spend more time raiding

Raiding 2-3 times a week at the moment and enjoying it :) Even if my guild does repeatedly wipe on Rotface!

6. Do Officer related duties

I’m enjoying this immensely :)

So all in all I’m keeping up and with the resilience buffs am looking forward to the new Arena season – let’s get it on like Donkey Kong.

Get your motor runnin’…

You may remember in my 2010 looking forward post one of my achievements was the to get the lovely mechano-hog. Luckily last night I turned badass… I even had a full set of leathers! (arf arf)

Many badges

I raid mostly 10 man raids, I’m a competent raider who uses his brain and to some extent can compensate a little for others DPS. I’ve played my class since just after release.

Never before have I farmed so many badges so quickly as I did the last 2 days. In total I needed 150 triumph badges and managed it after rolling and getting 2 x Trophy of the Crusade from a ToC 25 man PUG. It actually started off very slowly as I was queuing solo, then our new Paladin tank decided he also needed badges and boom instant groups.

As a result I now have in my possession Garona’s Helmet of Triumph and Garona’s Breastplate of Triumph.

So what did I learn from so much pugging? People love their alts! Very rarely did I come across mains (or at least I hope I didn’t when most of you were putting out 2-3k DPS). Really, I’ve never been a big fan of alts, I enjoy levelling them and making money from their professions but that’s it really. If there’s even 1 bit of loot I need in an instance you can bet your ass I’ll take a main there over an alt.

Spurred on by Arrens’ recent post I decided it would be helpful with all things WoW to create a to-do list but on a larger scale.  6 large items before Cataclysm sounds a good idea to me!

1. The Insane

This is currently the title I’m working on – it’s hard going but I’m already getting through the rep and nearly on neutral again with the Cartel, from here it shouldn’t be too bad going.

2. Mechano-Hog

Still not dipped into my funds to get 1, so this is 1 resolution I need to keep!  Luckily all those Dire Maul runs have given me plenty of cash!

3. Try and post on topics you’ve created

Every time I have an idea for a post I write it down – this usually happens once a day and I have an interactive desktop using Rainmeter that I write my notes down.

4. Get those alts to 80!

Most of my alts have maxed profs for gold but they’re sitting at lower levels, I need to get the Warrior then the DK and finally the Shaman to 80 (after Faction xfer) before I start playing the Paladin again – this way they’ll be ready for Cata.

5. Spend more time raiding

I haven’t done much raiding recently and went into ICC-10 for the first time last night (minus a pug on the first boss), whipped the damage meters into shape and found myself co-ordinating.

6. Do Officer related duties

I’m an Officer in Alpha and Omega on Bloodhoof-EU and haven’t done much to prove it, so I volunteered to take the combat logs (will help with my need to raid, read 5) and also do a bit of DKP if we go into 25 man territory.  I expect the Officer duties will lead to many a fun post on here and I already have 1 bit of trouble that I dealt with last night.

Goblin Grinding

Bruiser: You aint getting in with those jeans!

Sort of deleted the database to the site and with some personal stuff going on and the strange phenomena that is Christmas I haven’t had much time/care to sort it.

In the rest of my time I’ve been enjoying the 3 new heroics and all the triumph goodness that is 3.3.  Sure enough I switched to the new Poison-Ruptureless-Eviscerate spec and there is an improvement and to be honest I’m still pumping out 4.xk self buffed on a target dummy over a 5 minute period.

There is -nothing- special about my gear because I don’t raid, the only piece you couldn’t get in a pug are my heroic feet and if you knew you had decent players you could quite easily do the first boss in TOC as a pug in my opinion.

So, is the game becoming too easy?

No.  The new instance has 4 bosses and these have been cleared by your guild… on hardmode?  If so you’re one of the few to accomplish this as you must remember 99% of the people who play are incredibly casual.  Yes, raiding has become casual but there are alternatives.

As for me, well Ashankt the Insane has begun, it’s much less tedious grinding through something when you can queue for a BG/Heroic in between slaughtering goblins!

P.S. There’s still a few bits and bobs that need sorting on the site like SEO etc but spread the word, sneakytroll.co.uk is back on track ;)

P.P.S. I found my academic essay on the social effects of MMO’s and will post it up tomorrow for your consumption, possibly convert to an easy to read web format.
